Whittington Road, Worcester
Project Overview –
Smiths Demolition team are currently tasked with the demolition, clearance and asbestos removal works of a former Defra site situated in Worcester. The work is being carried out on behalf of our client St. Modwen to enable space for the construction of new houses and office facilities.
Scope of work –
Works commenced on the 30th August 2016 and is comprised of the demolition of ‘H block’ structures, the removal of asbestos and the processing of hard-core. Before the removal of asbestos can take place, the team will carry out fully destructive asbestos surveys. The information from the surveys then enables us to remove the asbestos safely. All recyclable and non-recyclable waste from the site will be moved to our recycling facility at Moreton Valence.
There are specific site constraints that require careful consideration at this particular site. One of the constraints includes the maintenance of access to a major BT exchange, the site is also adjacent to a fully operational ambulance station. The maintenance of access to these buildings is therefore essential. The site is also in very close proximity to a densely populated, residential area.
Our team are due to complete all works by March 2017.
