As part of our commitment to reducing landfill and recycling, the Smith's Waste Management and Recycling facility at Moreton Valance was opened in January 2002.

Sited just outside Gloucester with easy access to the motorway network, the waste management facility is licensed through the Environment Agency as one of the only of its kind in Gloucestershire. The site itself involved significant investment in the regeneration of a 'Brownfield ' site including the construction of a natural reed bed.

The ethos of the site is to recycle and reclaim waste therefore minimising the environmental impact and reducing the quantity of waste taken to landfill. The facility segregates the waste into processable waste streams including aggregates, soil, wood, plastic, ferrous and non ferrous scrap metals.

Our facilities are designed to accept waste from a variety of sources including builders, demolition, groundwork, civil engineering and skips. There is also an increasing demand from manufacturers and producers to provide them with a sustainable and environmentally sound disposal route for their waste. The facility has a dedicated weighbridge and can cater for both account and individual customers in vehicles from light vans to articulated trailers. All tipping is carried out on permanent surfaces and undercover in the transfer station.

The Moreton Valence site produces a range of quality secondary aggregates and topsoil products from its own crushing, screening and processing plant. There is also an extensive range of primary aggregates, sands and gravels.

Due to improvements in our waste separation techniques and recycling methods we require more packaging wood, pallets, hardcore, cardboard, plastics and many other materials. We are interested in large or small volumes that we can collect or you can deliver to our waste transfer station.

We now offer a new service for recycling waste plasterboard. This material will require special disposal procedures from mid-2005 because it will no longer be possible to take it in to an ordinary landfill site. We are now in a position to handle this waste in the correct manner and can collect or you can bring it in to our waste transfer station.
