Smith’s and Forest Green Rovers have announced a new shirt sponsorship deal for the next two seasons, involving the first team and replica shirts. Smith's are delighted to cement their relationship with the club which extends back to 1996.
Smith's, based at Eastington, are the largest company of their type in the county. Employing many who support the club, MD Alan Smith feels the time is right to profile the growth of the company with that of the club. The club offers Smith's the right platform for them to advertise their expanding range of services to new and existing customers. With the club wishing to compete at the highest level possible, it makes a perfect match for Smith's ambitions.
Alan commented “As a family business we value the ethos of the club. We have built a solid partnership over the years and we now look forward to strengthening it with this deal. The whole of the community should be proud of the achievements of the club and we recognise that our association can only assist us to market our brand name further afield than just Gloucestershire."
As in all partnerships involving the club, no disclosure of the full financial arrangements is to be made. Rovers Marketing & Operations Manager, Colin Peake stated “Suffice to say, the capital income is a tremendous boost. It will be used to good effect, particularly with regards to the new stadium, which is on the horizon. It is an excellent financial package and we look forward to working closely with all staff at Smith's to enhance their profile through branding, marketing and offering hospitality to them and their customers”.
Mr Peake added “To allay any fears, I wish to emphasise to our supporters that we continue with Sheffield Insulations as our main club sponsor. They have been fabulous sponsors to the club. They were keen though to allow us to offer the shirt deal to another company as part of our plans to create more finances towards re-location. I can confirm as a result, that the deal with Smith's will therefore be additional capital secured by the club. We continue to be indebted to Sheffield Insulations and look forward to Smith's having a similar partnership based on the values we hold dear which they see in the club as an asset to their future growth”.
A further announcement will be given as to a formal introduction of Smith's to the supporters and players of the shirts to be worn but the shirts will continue as previous years in colour and design. Smith's are keen to ensure that supporters are inconvenienced as little as possible with this change.
