Transport

Operating a fleet of over 100 trucks, Smiths Transport is one of the regions largest and most recognised hauliers. A common sight on the roads and motorways of the South West, Smiths Tippers in particular are busy providing services for our customers. Whether carrying a 10 tonne load of topsoil or delivering aggregate to a major construction project, Smiths Transport has the flexibility and versatility to deliver what you want, where you want it and when you need it.

Customer Service 

With over 20 years of operational experience we are proud to have provided a service to many major companies and organisations including Norwest Holst, Laing, Bloor Homes, Hanson and BAM Nuttall. Smiths values of honesty, integrity and professionalism are maintained throughout the Transport Division. We value our customers and are always working to improve our service delivery and our relationship with customers.

Capability

Smiths Transport operate a fleet of four wheel, six wheel and eight wheel Tipper lorries. We service customers in the Gloucestershire, South West, South Wales and Midlands areas operating out of our Head Office depot.

All of our vehicles are professionally maintained and serviced by a team of skilled technicians employed by our in-house Support Services Division.

All of our drivers have passed the NVQ level 2 certificate in driving goods vehicles.

Aggregates

As part of the Smiths Group, we can supply the very best quality recycled aggregates from our Waste Management Facility. Our rates are very competitive and, of course our delivery is fast and efficient. 40mm and 75mm certified crushed concrete in 10, 16 and 20 tonne loads is more environmentally friendly and sustainable, as well as being a cheaper alternative to quarried stone.

Smiths can also supply high quality, screened topsoil, sands, gravel and stone at very competitive prices.

Environmentally Aware

Smiths Transport are committed to reducing CO2 emissions and consequently improving the environment in which we live and work. We are proud to have been certified by Fuelchamp, an independent fuel economy advisor, who provide advice and assistance on implementing fuel efficiency programmes in freight transport operations. In addition all our drivers are certified by SAFED for safe and efficient driving.

In order to transport Hazardous Waste safely and legitimately many our of our drivers are ADR qualified, certificating them to work with Hazchem products.
 

Roadsweepers

To compliment the fleet of specialist road going construction transport Smiths Transport provides 'Roadsweepers' at competitive rates.

The sweeper fleet have vehicles equipped to remove debris from highways and have gully sucking equipment and high pressure jetting equipment to remove or clear minor blockages and obstructions within road drains.

All tipping of sweepers takes place at our Moreton Valance depot, which is the only site in Gloucestershire that is registered to process wet sweeper arisings, giving the customer an assurance that the waste is disposed of safely and legitimately.

Tipper Grabs 

The Tipper Grabs are an economical choice of vehicle for the removal of waste where loading options are limited or uneconomical.
 
There is an option of three axle or four axle steel-bodied tippers, both complete with  LOLER tested Epsilon cranes.

Our drivers are competent in the use of the clamshell grab meaning the operation is efficient, effective and safe.

Low Loaders & Abnormal Loads
