Smiths History

1982 - Smiths established with one excavator. Based from home.

1982-1993 - Rapid growth with contract work.

1990 - Company is split into component parts - Smiths Construction/Smiths Transport/Smiths Plant Hire

1992 - Smiths Demolition division formed.

1994 - Smiths acquires land at Eastington.

1998 - Work starts on Alkerton Court on restoration and creation of a Head Office.

2000 - Smith's (Gloucester) Limited incorporated. New Divisional structure created.

2000- Waste Management division formed.

2002 - Moreton Valence Waste Management Facility opened.

2004 - Smiths completes it's first £ 1 million contract.

2005 - New South Wales depot opened in Cardiff.

2006 - Purpose-built Managed Recycling Facility installed at Moreton Valence.

2007 - Haulage fleet exceeds 100 for the first time.

2007 - 2nd Generation of the Smith family joins the company.

2008 - Smiths staff complement exceeds 500 for the first time.
